Army Goes Salo – Floudin ensimmäinen itse kehittämä projekti - Army Goes Salo – Floudi’s first self-developed project

Army Goes Salo event was an army themed bar tour to all students in Salo campus. ArmyGoes Salo took place in the bars in the Salo region and was organized for the first time 9th April 2014. Traditional nightclub Rikala and seven other local bars collaborated with us.

How did it all begin? We went to a student party last fall where there were only a few participants, approximately 30 students. This fact roused thoughts and conversation why students do not participate in student events in Salo campus the same way as they do for example in Turku. After some thinking, we decided to organize a student party of our own. The challenge in this project was the target group, in other words, the students in Salo campus. We had to take everything into consideration that the same pattern would not repeat itself.

We had courage from the fact that some of the student association SAKKO’s parties had been successful, so we knew that the idea was not doomed to begin with. Association SAKKO helped us to remember even the smallest details that tend to be forgotten during projects.

Kuun alussa opiskelijat saavat valtion rahallisen tuen, joten lipun maksaminen onnistuu parhaiten tällöin.

How did Army Goes Salo draw 100 participants though the party was organized for the first time? We updated our social media sites very actively and informed students about the event in the campus entrance hall. We also marketed the event by dressing according to the theme while selling the tickets. This triggered our customers to plan their outfits for the party and think about the forthcoming festivities. We decided to sell electric tickets, which considerably lowered the threshold to buy a ticket. Timing is essential in selling tickets and organizing events. We decided to sell our tickets and organize the party in the beginning of the month when students receive their study grant and are therefore more likely to afford tickets.

Olemme suunnitelleet Army Goes Salon jatkoa positiivisten palautteiden saattelemana ja tulemme järjestämään bileet kahdesti vuodessa, syksyllä ja keväällä. Hieman konseptia muokaten jätämme armeijateeman unholaan ja tulemme uuteen lukuvuoteen uuden teeman kera!

We got a lot of positive feedback and based on that we are planning to organize parties two times a year, one in the fall semester and another in the spring semester. We are going to change our concept slightly, forget the army theme and come up with a new one next fall!
